About: Aston Martin DBS V-8 Racing Automobile

This 1971 Aston Martin DBS is a representation of an early 1970s era sports-luxury vehicle from Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. which is one of the most significant sports-luxury brands in the U.K. The origins of Aston Martin started in 1913 when Lionel Martin (1878–1945) and Robert Bamford (1883–1942) established Bamford and Martin Ltd. (B&M), a dealer and repairer of manufactured cars. At the same time, Martin was successfully competing at the Aston Hill climb using cars modified by B&M which resulted in the company manufacturing their own cars. Created in 1915, the first registered Aston Martin vehicle was the Coal Scuttle. In 1947, David Brown purchased the company along with another luxury car brand Lagonda to form Aston Martin Lagonda Limited. The first successful Aston Martin under Brown featured Lagonda’s straight-6 engine named the DB2 after Brown’s initials. Throughout the 1950s and early 1960s, Aston Martin automobiles became not only known for their racing victories but became one of the best-known sports car brands. With sales all over the world, Aston Martin is regarded as having the best sports cars available for public purchase, competing with Ferrari and Maserati.

This 1971 Aston Martin DBS is an accurate representation of an early 1970s era sports-luxury vehicle. Between 1967 and 1972, the company produced the Aston Martin DBS which was designed to be more of a luxury automobile than a sports car. The car would become one of the first vehicles to be known as a sports-luxury car. The design of the DBS as a four-passenger sports car found immediate popularity because it could be used in ways a two-seater sports car could not. This DBS was built in the U.K. and has its steering on the right-hand side along with continental style bumpers.
