Object Description: Brown metal canteen with a felt-covered body, black leather strap, and black metal lid. The strap begins at the lid and wraps around the canteen vertically so that it ends just below the lid on the opposite side. There is significant rust and dirt throughout and part of the lid is missing.

This standard German military canteen originally had a felt lining that when wet, would help cool the water within. This canteen was found in the bilge of the U-505 by museum staff in 1994.
