About: Miniature Dining Chairs, Fairy Castle
About: Miniature Dining Chairs, Fairy Castle
These are the chairs intended for King Arthur, Guinevere, and the Knights of the Round Table. Each chair is painted with a coat of arms identifying the owner of the chair. Here, Colleen Moore and the artists created their own designs which included references to Guinevere’s love affair with Lancelot, one of King Arthur’s knights. Guinevere’s design depicts two entwined hearts, Lancelot’s shield shows a double cross with a snake in the grass, and King Arthur’s coat of arms includes his sword, Excalibur, and a broken heart. The theme of the Dining Room throughout is King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The dining table is modeled after the Round Table and each place setting includes a gold dining service as well as goblets, plates, and wine glasses. The ceiling is raftered and is made from burnished walnut. The woodwork of the ceiling matches the inlaid wood of the floor and polished marble walls. A walnut sideboard and a buffet hold further china and drinkware fit for a King.
