About: General Electric Toaster
About: General Electric Toaster
Made by General Electric, this D-12 single-slice 1910 toaster was one of the earliest successful electric toasters. The four heating elements in the center are made of nichrome, an alloy of nickel and chromium invented by Albert Marsh in 1905, which could be heated by an electric current and cooled repeatedly in the presence of oxygen without burning out.
