Physical Characteristics

Object Description: Circular bronze medal. Recto depicts relief of nude male figure with arms and legs extended, wearing flowing loin cloth and words to sides of and below figure. Verso depicts overhead map of fairgrounds and body of water, a compass with arrow and "N" is in the area of the water. There is text all along the border circumference. Manufacturer name is embossed at the upper edge of the map.

This Art Deco bronze medal from the 1933 Century of Progress Exposition features a male figure wearing a loin cloth on the front and a depiction of the exposition’s fairgrounds. The medal was designed by Chicago artist Emil Robert Zettler (1878 – 1946).
